How to Move Away From A Problem

I was listening to one of my motivational speakers this morning and they touched on a very interesting topic—solutions vs. problems.

Have you ever experienced a problem and all you do is think about it, talk about it or dwell on it? Well, you’ve been going about it all wrong. The next time you’re faced with a “problem,” how about taking a different approach, focus on the solution instead of the problem.

For example, let’s say you are struggling with your weight. Is it really necessary to weigh yourself five times a day? Or, how important is it to figure out how you got there? Wouldn’t a better approach be to research the “solution” to your problem? And by research I mean take notice of your thought life. Instead of going through your day talking about how you didn’t work-out all week. Or how terribly you’ve been eating, how about you begin to think about a solution. Why didn’t you work-out? Is it time? Is it that your work-out regiment is dreadful? Is it that you didn’t have any clothes to work out in? (that’s a good one, I used this one for years!). You see my point—I hope.

Going the path of finding the solution, is always a better option to dwelling on the problem. The solution will get you results. The problem will keep you stuck.

Apply this method to any area of your life where you are finding yourself focusing on “the problem.” Within time you will see how shifting your mindset away from the problem to the solution will make you feel better, ultimately eliminating the problem altogether.
